Meaghan won her first national agility championship as a junior handler at 17.
Since then she has won 10 Regional and four National titles. She has been on Canada’s world teams 12 times with three different dogs and brough home to Canada 11 medals. This year she has her 3rd generation pup on three of the World teams for Canada, WAO, IFCS, and FCI and she is on with mother and son for two of the teams.
Meaghan’s approach to handling with MOTO Agility is choosing the best lines possible for the dog, and for the handler to get and stay ahead. When handling, communicating with the dog where they are going before they get there, and having trust with the dog and their job.
Much of that relies on the dog having a solid understanding of the behavior of the obstacles so the handler can have the confidence to lead and get ahead. And the handler not being afraid to push the boundaries with their handling and what they are capable of. When there is a solid understanding, the trust and the right handling all come together it’s a beautiful thing to see, the handler and dog push to do the best they possibly can do with confidence in each other.
